Digital Changeover - Support Volunteers Wanted
Digital Changeover: Durris Transmitter – 1 & 15 September 2010
Digital takes place in September for the above transmitter area. Aberdeen Council of Voluntary Organisations has been contracted by Digital Outreach Ltd, a non profit making Company, to help ensure a smooth changeover especially for older, disabled and other potentially vulnerable people. As part of the assistance, an Advice Point will be set up at Huntly on 1/2 September and 15/16 September. The Switchover Advice points will give last minute advice and guidance.
We are looking for volunteers who are good at communicating with all kinds of people, to staff the Switchover Advice Point, which will be situated at the Stewart's Hall in Huntly, to provide support and advice so people can make the switch from analogue to digital TV.
Some people will find the switchover challenging so we are looking for volunteers who can offer reassurance to those individuals : volunteers who are sensitive to people's needs : and who, after training, will be able to offer practical support to people retuning digital tv's and connecting set top boxes.
All volunteers will be trained in preparation for the Switchover Advice Points. It is likely that the training will take place in Elgin. Travelling expenses will be paid at 40p per mile/public transport rates.

Huntly Development Trust - Annual Review
Huntly Development Trust recently held its first AGM, on June 22nd, almost one year on since its emergence in July 2009. The evening was well attended, and following the official business there was plenty of lively discussion around the themed display tables relating to some of HDT's key community and environmental projects. Fairtrade refreshments were provided by Huntly Ethical Trading Initiative (HETI).
