Loyalty card scheme under consideration for Huntly.

At the latest members' meeting of the Huntly Business Association on 4th December 2007, Melanie Odell of the Haslemere Initiative presented details of the Haslemere Rewards Scheme. A similar scheme is now being considered for Huntly.

The scheme comprises a smart loyalty card system which allows members to offer tailored incentives to their customers in order to encourage them to return. Customers purchase a single card covering all businesses and build up points each time they shop locally. Points earned in one business are only redeemable in that same business thanks to the smart technology behind the card.  Melanie enthusiastically extolled the virtues of the card and its benefits to local businesses and answered the many questions posed by the HBA members present.

The result of the meeting is that HBA is organising a learning journey to Haslemere in February or March for up to six HBA members to go and see the scheme in action and talk to both businesses involved in the scheme and customers. It is hoped that a meeting can be arranged with the technology supplier to discuss the equipment required and costs involved. ATP Huntly and Aberdeenshire Council are keen to help HBA get a similar scheme off the ground if the HBA delegation's report of the visit is positive. To that end, ATP is funding the cost of the visit.

If you would like to be part of the delegation visiting Haslemere, or would like to know more about the Haslemere Rewards Scheme in general, please contact Mike Davies, 01466 700213 or mike@integrawebdesign.co.uk, by Thursday 31st January.
