Deveron Arts

Surprisingly, for a town with its roots embedded in agriculture, Huntly has one of the most active contemporary arts organisations in Scotland. Deveron Arts offers residencies for visiting artists from around the world. They include sculptors, photographers, painters and performance artists. Locally it supported the publication of work by David Blyth and commissioned a UK-wide poster exhibition by Dalziel and Scullion. These 'artists in residence' work on their own projects with the community. Deveron Arts funded Scotland’s first 'Town Fiddler' to play and compose new music. It launched the colourful Hallowe'en Festival each October and in 2007 commissioned a new book about Huntly author George Macdonald. Unusually for an arts organisation  Deveron Arts does not have a fixed studio, Performances take place around the town in available buildings or open spaces.
